ST. LOUIS — Summer is nearing, and parents are looking for ways to engage their children in fun activities that also teach them important life lessons.
Throughout the summer, Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) is bringing the Gospel to children all around the world by delivering the timeless truths of the Bible in exciting, engaging ways. CEF’s summer camps provide children with age-appropriate, biblically based and Christ-centered lessons and materials to ensure that they are following God’s morals, values and beliefs taught in Scripture.
“Unlike many other camps, CEF’s summer camps center around the life-changing message of salvation through Jesus Christ,” says CEF Acting Vice President of Administration Fred Pry. “This sets them apart from any other camping programs.”
The international Camp Good News® program has been a critical part of the ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship throughout the years. Trained staff maintain an exciting program focused on evangelism and discipleship.
In a testimony from a Camp Good News®, a CEF staff member said, “The children at one camp were trained in evangelism and then went on an outreach to share the Gospel. One young boy, Mahelby, shared the Gospel with a police officer in the neighborhood. As a result of the post-Camp Good News® Gospel outreach, 536 children and adults received Jesus Christ as Savior.”
CEF’s 5-Day Club® meets kids where they are. Placed right in their neighborhoods, a 5-Day Club® is easy for a child to access on their summer break. Young people are trained and equipped to lead action-packed 5-Day Clubs® for one and a half hours each day, sharing God’s Word in exciting, engaging ways. Children hear the Gospel, and thousands come to know Jesus as their Savior.
A CEF 5-Day Club® testimony from CEF of Oregon, Inc.’s Benton County Chapter: “Towards the end of the club, while most of the children were joining in on a fun game, Kendal wanted to simply sit and talk with Emily. While trying to decide what to talk with her about, Emily remembered how Kendal had been fascinated with her Wordless Book during club.
“She asked Kendal if she would like to hear the story that went with the colorful little book. Emily taught through the entirety of the story, and when she gave the invitation to receive Christ as Savior, Kendal said yes!”
So far, CEF’s 5-Day Club® has had a global impact in reaching 561,602 children and training thousands of teachers.
Not Your Parents’ Scouting Anymore
In recent news with the Boy Scouts of America changing their name to Scouting America to become a more inclusive scouting organization, CEF is committed to providing children with biblically-based, Gospel-centered programs for children and equipping them with the foundational truths of the Bible.
“Scouting America and Girl Scout camps are continuing to abandon their time-tested traditions and instead are catering to an agenda that is inappropriate and ungodly for children,” Pry says.
“By contrast, CEF’s summer camps provide children with age-appropriate, biblically based and Christ-centered lessons and materials to ensure that they are following God’s morals, values and beliefs taught in Scripture,” Pry says. “CEF’s summer camps help children to come to know the truths of the Bible.”
Child Evangelism Fellowship, which was founded 87 years ago, has been establishing the Good News Club® in countries around the world for decades. Clubs are thriving worldwide, in countries including Australia, Cambodia, Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Uganda and many more.
In 2023, through CEF’s combined ministries, more than 25.2 million children worldwide heard the Good News. More than 577,000 teachers were trained around the world.
