During the CEF International Conference in May, we focused on building ministry highways to reach 100 million children annually by 2032. We heard incredible testimonies from missionaries who share the Good News of Jesus with children around the world, and some of these stories are included in this edition. We look to God to empower us to continue sharing the Good News of Jesus with even more children.

  • Meet Helen María Valerio Abalo, our missionary in the Spain/European region! During a challenging period in my life, I found myself seeking comfort and guidance from God through prayer and reading the Bible. Around that time, my father called and shared the message of the gospel with me. This inspired me to begin searching for an evangelical church. It was in February 2013, at the age of 30, that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. My assurance can be found in Romans 10:9. My hope for this ministry is to bring the message of Jesus Christ to the children of Tarragona Province, Spain. I am committed to organizing a variety of outreach events for children in our community — such as Good News Clubs, Five-Day Clubs, and special celebrations during Christmas and other holidays. A key part of this mission is building a network of prayer supporters and financial partners who share a passion for reaching young hearts. I also aim to equip and support local churches, empowering them to make children’s evangelism a priority and to recognize how vital it is for every child to hear the good news. My heartfelt prayer is that God will prepare these children to receive His word with open hearts, leading them into authentic faith. I long to see the gospel’s impact grow ever stronger throughout Tarragona, transforming lives and communities through God’s love. Recent Articles

When I was four years old my mom opened our home to a Good News Club®. Though Mom was not saved, she would sit in the club each week and listen as the lesson was taught. One day after club I told my mom I wanted to be saved. My unsaved mom led me to the Lord, repeating what she had heard in club each week. Soon after that Mom was saved too. Today there are about 15 different family members in some form of Christian ministry—pastor, missionary, etc.

When I was only three, I was led to the Lord by my brother who’d been trained in a Teaching Children Effectively courseTM. A couple of years later I started going to 5-Day Club® and Good News Club® then attended Christian Youth in Action® (CYIATM) and began teaching at age 12. After six fruitful years of summer ministry as a student and one as staff, I was excited to be called into the ministry full time and be following God’s path for my life.

I started to attend Good News Club® in Sioux City, Iowa when I was about four years old. My older brother went, and I liked to go along. I so clearly remember our teacher, dear Mrs. Dora Lock and her helper Betty Ritchie. She had GNC® in the basement of her home. I remember the day she had the lesson on the crucifixion like it was yesterday. She talked about how Jesus died to pay the price for our sins and all we had to do was believe on Him and accept His free gift. I was ready to accept him that day! I attended for several years and the Scripture that I memorized and the songs we sang have stuck with me to this day. I am forever grateful for my time spent in GNC and am loving being part of it again.
